If Father is wise he will want to see the forests destroyed in his time replanted to give hope to his descendants.

This means of course planting trees, an activity for the early part of the rainy season which in Chiang Mai can be from June onwards.

By the time the Kratongs have floated  down the river with our hopes for a better life, the time for planting has long passed. So to show our respect to Father on the nominated day of 5th December or there abouts, planting trees is not an option here, as any we plant, apart from those we are close to and can water each week, until the rains come again in April, are very likely to perish.

So what can we do you may ask? If we do nothing as the dry season approaches and the likelihood of destructive wild fire increases, trees planted months or years earlier may remain under a blanket of weeds or be consumed in fire.  So the answer is to pull out or press down weed growth around our trees.

So from the early morning cool of 8 a.m. on 5th December, please come and join Gum Hak Doi Suthep at Huai Teng Tao, in the car park opposite the HQ and then we will go to the West side of the lake for a working bee.

Huai Teng Tao HQ is on the right as we pass thru the check point

Our weed work will be on the West ( left hand ) side of the tarmac road shown on the air photo below.
